March update

Hi all, it’s already the end of the month. Time for the latest news on this project.

Book preview

We’ve been working in the past month on the print files and actually hoped to have a text-only preview ready for you by this update, while we wait on a few more art pieces but it’s going to take a little more time.  We’ll post an update to download the preview as soon as possible. You can finally experience Sutradain for yourself outside of these updates!

Printing

Let’s be honest. It’s not a good time to be a (small) book publisher. Since this Kickstarter’s success the paper prices have risen by 50% by failing supply lines and the war in Ukraine, decimating any kind of profit this project was going to make. It will likely ship at a loss, but we’re committed at giving you your product, so that’s what we’re going to do. We have bought all the paper because another increase was incoming per tomorrow so we know what our costs are going to be for that part. Any earlier wasn’t really feasible because then you’d be looking at keeping a large stock of paper without those associated costs.

We haven’t heard back from Gamesquest if this also impacts our existing agreement for shipping, so for now we don’t have to charge any extra fees and chalk it up to business risk.

So what’s actually happening is that the reprint of a Corruption of Cavestar is  at the printer now. That’s one down. The printing of A Nightmare in Sutradain is likely to happen in May, so there we’ll still on schedule.
